• This blend of 45% Syrah, 39% Grenache, 9% Mourvèdre and 7% Counoise offers lush aromas of violet, lilac, lavender, vanilla and blueberry on the nose. The palate offers plenty of black currant and spice flavors, with sandy tannins and fresh acidity holding it all in check. WE 95 pts.
  • Deep garnet red in color, this blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan offers aromas of black cherry. On the palate, the wine is fleshy and well-structured -- a nice expression of the terroir in the Roussillon area. Rhone red blend. JD 92pts, RP 91pts.
  • The 2018 Chateau de Beaucastel red has an elegant deep ruby-red colour. The powerful and elegant nose offers superb notes of spices, cherries and cocoa. Elegantly and perfectly balanced, the mouth reveals a beautiful dense structure with fine tannins and complex aromas of red fruit such as blackcurrants and floral notes. • Juicy and direct, with a core of blackberry and plum fruit, laced with a singed alder thread and backed by a dusting of garrigue on the finish, which reveals a nice tug of dark earth. • The 2017 Cotes du Rhone contains just 40% Grenache. There's 20% each Mourvèdre and Syrah, with the balance a mix of Carignan and Cinsault. Raised exclusively in concrete vats and foudres, it's a juicy, mouthwatering mixed bowl of blueberries and cherries that should please most palates. Medium to full-bodied, it features a plump, appealing texture and silky tannins. Despite pumping up the blend with other varieties, the shortage of Grenache this year means that production was down by 20%. It should still be a relative bargain. WA 91 pts.
  • Dark purple black berries (cherry), garrigues and black olives notes. Very ample structure, richness and power balanced by the freshness of the Ventoux terroir, garrigues, black cherry and tarry notes with velvety tannins. Blend: 80% Syrah 20% Grenache. RP 94pts, JD 93pts.
  • A New World version of the French classic “Rhone Blend.” Grenache acts to soften the more tannic Syrah, while Mourvèdre adds backbone and a unique “gamey-ness.” This is a versatile wine capable of accompaniment to many different dishes. Spicy aromas with notes of clove, black pepper and currant.
  • 100% Serine (ancient variety of Syrah). 70% Destemmed fruit – 30% Whole cluster fermentation. Granite sand from Malleval vale. Twelve months’ ageing: 20% in new casks – 40% in casks used for one wine - 40% in casks used for two or three wines. Juicy and still youthfully compact, with singed mesquite and incense wrapped around a core of lightly mulled cherry, plum and blackberry fruit flavors. Incense note curls around the finish too. Should blossom with a touch of cellaring. WS 94 pts, JD 91 pts.
  • Wild and brambly with a wealth of mixed berries and dark chocolate. The palate has chalky tannins that are compressed and set like plaster. Chocolate and dark berries to finish. Drink or hold."  JS 91 pts, JD 91 pts.
  • Powerfully Grenache on the nose: red cherry, wild strawberry, and star anise, with the Syrah providing a little tobacco-like herby savoriness. The mouth is deep and flavorful, with flavors of black cherry, pepper spice, and milk chocolate. Nice powdery Grenache tannins come out on the finish, leaving an impression of pithy cherry skin and wild herbs. Drink now and over the next decade. Blend: 53% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre, 10% Counoise. WE 94 pts, RP 92 pts, WS 90 pts.
  • A dark, spicy Syrah-driven nose reminiscent of Cornas: teriyaki, black olive, eucalyptus and black plum. On the palate, meaty and juicy, with flavors of soy marinade, black raspberry, wood smoke and white pepper. The long, gently tannic finish lingers with black fruit and spice. Delicious now, but with the substance and balance to age for up to a decade. Blend: 40% Syrah, 33% Grenache, 21% Mourvedre, 3% Counoise, 3% Terret Noir. WE 92 pts, JS 92 pts, RP 91 pts, WS 90 pts.
